Gwynnie Bee

I took a break from Stitch Fix this fall when I kept having trouble with the sizing - specifically room for boobs. Despite my specific notes and previous complaints they kept sending me tops that wouldn't even fit a C cup. So, I'm on hiatus with them at the moment.

Which caused me to go looking for an option for curvy girls. I have been pleasantly surprised by my experience with Gwynnie Bee.

This is a clothing rental service for sizes 10 to 32.  There is an option to purchase items if you like, but generally it is rentals. You make a quick profile online and pick items for your closet from their inventory. You have to have about 10 items in your closet before they will ship and the shipping stops if your closet ever gets under 10 items.

This is what my virtual closet looks like right now!

Rental plans start at $35 a month for one item at a time (kinda like Netflix) and include shipping both ways. There are several options with multiple items at a time so you can pick a plan that best fits your needs. When I'm teaching I get a multiple item account and when I'm not teaching I drop down to just one item at a time. They don't do partial month upgrades which is a bit of a bummer since I would love to up my account when I have conferences.

This is the dress that arrived yesterday and will get worn Monday and shipped back Tuesday. So essentially I get a new dress every week for $35 for the month.

The clothing is shipped in small US Postal Service boxes and arrives right to your door. The clothing is wrapped in tissue and a return mail bag is included. One of the things I love best is that the return clothing can go right in your mailbox since it is so light. You don't have to make a trip to the post office like with stitch fix or a trip to UPS with some other services. You also don't need to launder the item before returning. I take it right off and seal it in the bag.

I've been very pleased with the quality of the clothing. These are not low budget items. It also pushes me to try styles that I might not have tried otherwise. For the record, if I think a dress looks odd online I usually still think it looks odd when I wear it. :)

You can speed up the rental process by letting GB know that you are returning an item online. I had some slow shipping in the beginning which was due to me not understanding this.  It is one click to tell them you returned it and another click to tell them what day you returned it. Then they email you as soon as your next item is shipping.

My only complaint is that which item you are sent seems to be pretty random. I'm sure this is how they manage their inventory but I would love to have 2 or 3 preferred items and then have them send me one of the others if they aren't in stock. But on the other hand it is fun to get surprised I suppose.

I'm pretty much hooked. I love getting fresh items and it makes selecting what to wear even easier. I'm inclined to keep pairing down my closet since I have this rental option.

I should note that you can rent tops and pants and jackets too, but I like having a complete outfit in a dress. And sorry for no personal pictures but hopefully this gives you an idea. I do get a referral bonus in the form of an additional rental item if you decide to try it, but they didn't ask my to do a review. This is my personal opinion, and I'm very happy with this service.
